The Matatiele Local Municipality, in partnership with the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure, has taken a significant step towards reducing unemployment by empowering Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) beneficiaries with practical skills. A recent three-day training session, held at the Maggie Tsiu-Resha Building, equipped participants with the knowledge and skills needed to start small businesses and sustain themselves beyond their EPWP contracts.
Close to 100 beneficiaries from the wattle-clearing project across various wards successfully completed the programme, marking a significant milestone in the Municipality’s efforts to strengthen livelihoods, promote economic resilience, and support long-term job creation. The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the opportunity and appreciation for the commitment shown to their growth.
