The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) President Julius Malema recently visited Cwecwe parents, who have been seeking justice for their child, following a tragic rape incident of their 7 year old girl in October last year where it is alleged that the incident happened at Bergview Collage at Matatiele.
According to an EFF commissar and Member of Parliament Babalwa Mathulelwa, Malema’s visit was a gesture of solidarity with the family. Mathulelwa shared the history behind the visit, highlighting the EFF’s commitment to fighting for justice on behalf of the family also voicing out their concerns whereby she accuses the minister of South African Police Services (SAPS) Senzo Mchumu for contradictory statements regarding the DNA samples of Bergview Collage Principal.
Mathulelwa emphasised that Cwecwe’s mother did not just come up with the rape of her child, it was ruled by a professional doctor that the child was raped. Mathulelwa also shares that as the Economic Freedom Fighters they have been fighting for the family to a point that on the 15 of January they were outside Bergview Collage picketing and also handing over a memorandum demanding for the closure of the school. Furthermore the EFF commissar highlighted some of the events that does not seat well with them, mentioning how the Minister of Basic Education misled the public with claims of deregistering the school, but it was then later said otherwise because of Afrifrum’s involvement.
Mathulelwa clarifies the reasons for their demands to shut down the school, saying the police still needed to collect some evidences within the premises. She also questioned the statement made by the Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane during his visit at Matatiele , where she claims that Mabuyane publicly lied about the Bergview Colleges parents , claiming that they handed over a petition saying MEC Fundile Gade made a wrong decision for saying the school will be deregistered yet they were not consulted. “We have been asking for that memorandum because not a single parent claim to know anything like that, also there not even a proof of it,” she said.
Additionally Mathulelwa believes that there is propaganda with regards to this case, saying that they recently found out on social media platforms that the Principal in question is in business with the South African President brother. “Their business is pornography called Curro, whereby they use kids to do that,” said Mathulelwa.
