Notyesi is a liar when he says witnesses were not there. “He’s a liar.”
The Democratic Alliance in Matatiele is questioning the credibility of Mvuzo Ntyesi, the lawyer representing former mayor Of Matatiele Local Municipality Sonwabile Mngenela in allegations of fraud and corruption brought by the Democratic Alliance Chief Whip Wonga Potwana. According to the Democratic Alliance, no witnesses have ever been called to the stand since the inception of these court proceedings.
Regarding the case of former Mayor Sonwabile Mngenela versus Wonga Potwana, the Democratic Alliance notes the case was provisionally withdrawn after the prosecutor Buso, withdrew himself from the case, and on September 22, the NPA as well as the DPP of the Eastern Cape did not allocate any prosecutor to the case. The Democratic Alliance states that continuing the case without valid reasons was “not convincing or right.” explained Potwana. The Democratic Alliance adds, “We as witnesses, we were never called to attend the court case on the 22 of September in Mthatha, which was this past Monday.” He further claims that, the case will resume again once the NPA DPP allocates a prosecutor.
Democratic Alliance Chief Whip Wonga Potwana stated that whatever Notyesi and his law firm wrote it’s not true. “They are all liars,” said Potwana. Potwana expressed concern that they are using the case to drain Mngenela’s funds because they are not projecting the true reflection of the case, the true reflection of what has transpired. Potwana questioned the involvement of the DPP and NPA in the case, asking “Is the DPP and the NPA having an interest in this case? Or not? And regarding the DPP after receiving a resignation letter or an achievement letter from Buso, something is fishy,” stated Potwana. He further notes that, the corruption level when they are looking at it also spells out this case will be won by whoever out of the court or inside the court even if the evidence is there, and even if all the witnesses were not notified and they were not called.
In conclusion, the Democratic Alliance states that, the case is provisionally withdrawn and once the DPP and the NPA allocate the prosecutor the case will continue. The Democratic Alliance emphasizes that, the witnesses were never called. Potwana points out that, the people who were never called and notes there are about fourteen witnesses that they were never called. Potwana concludes that Notyesi is a liar when he says witnesses were not there. “He’s a liar,” said Potwana.
