The Democratic Alliance (DA) Provincial Leader and MEC for Finance in the Government of Provincial Unity (GPU) in KwaZulu-Natal, Francois Rodgers, recently held a successful engagement with the business and farming community. The meeting aimed to drive solutions for communities and address pressing challenges. The DA’s Provincial Director and a team of staff members, as well as DA councillors from the constituency, were also in attendance, ensuring strong representation from the Party’s leadership at all levels.
In a statement issued by the DA Sisonke constituency leader Shara Singh, states that during the meeting, stakeholders raised several concerns, including the ongoing impact of foot and mouth disease, abandoned and neglected state-owned buildings and facilities, and the collapse of service delivery by local municipalities. These concerns were noted, and where possible, the MEC will work towards finding practical solutions. Traditional leaders present voiced concerns about certain facilities in the Franklin area, prompting the MEC to commit to returning to the area in his capacity as Finance MEC to directly assess the facilities and determine how best to resolve the issues.
In conclusion, the DA Provincial Leader reaffirmed the party’s commitment to ensuring accountable governance and service delivery that improves the lives of all people in KwaZulu-Natal. The party’s Political Head, Shara Singh, outlined a clear pathway to government for the DA in local municipalities ahead of next year’s local government elections, encouraging stakeholders to work with and support the DA to achieve positive change and build stronger, better-run municipalities.
