ANCYL Supports Grade 12 Learners

“The budget allocated to the Department of Basic Education and Transport Department is minimal, hence we are doing this drive assisting where we can.”

The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) in Harry Gwala has launched an initiative to support Grade 12 learners who are currently writing their final exams. The organization is donating food parcels to schools that have requested assistance, particularly those with learners who are attending extra classes and camps.

The ANCYL has been actively involved in a donation drive, providing essential items such as food and sanitary pads to Grade 12 learners. “Not only do the food parcels, but also sanitary towels and other significant support,” explained Regional Chairperson Njabulo Dlamini. The organization’s support initiatives are guided by the needs of the schools, with the ANCYL responding to requests and working to solve problems. “It depends on the school’s request; whatever school is in need, we will go there and try to solve that type of problem,” said Dlamini.

The organization’s efforts are necessary due to the limited resources available to the government. “The  budget allocated to the Department of Basic Education and Transport Department is minimal, hence we are doing this drive assisting where we can,” Dlamini noted, highlighting the importance of external support in ensuring learners receive the resources they need to succeed.

The ANCYL’s support initiatives are not limited to a specific area. “We are targeting not only our nearest schools but all schools in need within our region,” Dlamini said. The organization’s goal is to cover all schools, providing essential resources and support to those who need it most during their critical exams.

During their outreach programs, the ANCYL educates learners and encourages them to work towards a common goal. “We always tell them to use this time and opportunity to make their parents proud,” Dlamini said. The organization believes it’s never too late to make a change and is committed to supporting learners in their academic pursuits. “This is the last chance to make a change,” Dlamini emphasized.
