The African National Congress in Harry Gwala Region calls upon the newly elected African National Congress Youth League leadership to unite young people of Harry Gwala, and ensuring that their challenges are addressed through different mechanisms in and outside government. This follows after the Youth League held its 7th Regional Congress in Kokstad.
According to the statement issued by the ANC, the Youth League 7th Regional Executive Committee must be defined by action, accountability, and mobilization, ensuring that young people actively participate in shaping and sharpening ANC’s political future in Harry Gwala region. The statement mentioned that, the congress was a festival of ideas and it was dominated by internal democracy, unity, and revolutionary discipline—values that have always defined the ANC and its youth structures. It further says the ANC Youth League remains a critical body of opinion in the life of African National Congress and it has a responsibility of mobilising young people behind the banner of the African National Congress.
The ANC’s statement, further commends the delegates and all members of the Youth League for their militancy, discipline, robust engagements, and unwavering commitment towards strengthening the ANC Youth League as a militant, fearless, and progressive voice for young people. “This congress reaffirmed the dedication of young activists to the renewal of our movement and the broader struggle for economic freedom in our lifetime,” said the ANC in the statement. The statement claims that, the African National Congress will continue to support all its leagues in the region to ensure stability towards renewal and rebuilding. “The ANC Veteran’s League and Women’s League are both preparing for their Regional Conferences and we will give them our maximum support,” said the ANC in the statement.
Meanwhile, the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) in KwaZulu-Natal congratulated the newly elected leadership of the Harry Gwala Region, emphasizing that the congress marks yet another stride in intensifying the militant voice of young people in KwaZulu-Natal. “It reaffirms our commitment to ensuring that young people are not only heard, but are actively shaping the political, social and economic future of their communities,” said the Provincial ANCYL. The newly elected leadership is Cde Njabulo Dlamini as the Chairperson, Cde Olwethu “Azania” Zuma as the Deputy Chairperson, Cde Nqobile Wandile Mbanjwa as the Secretary, Cde Lwazi Ndzimande Deputy Secretary, and Cde Nomfesane Jili as the Treasurer.
