ANC KZN Appoints RTT Structures

“The RTT will work together to unite the ANC and drive the party’s agenda forward,”

The African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal has appointed Regional Task Teams (RTTs) in all its regions, including the Harry Gwala region. According to the spokesperson Fanele Sibisi, this decision was made due to the end of the term of office for the existing regional structures.

Fanele Sibisi emphasized that the regional structures did not face any allegations of wrongdoing. Rather, the Provincial Working Committee (PWC) exercised its mandate to replace the structures with RTTs, enabling the regions to focus on key priorities that include regional conferences and local government elections. “The RTTs are expected to play a crucial role in ensuring the ANC’s continued effectiveness in the regions, by taking over from the previous structures, the RTTs will help drive the party’s agenda and prepare for upcoming challenges,” explained Sibisi. The spokesperson further shared that, the RTT was given six months to deliver a credible conference by the Provincial Working Committee (PWC).  According to the  approved list of names  that are expected to lead the Harry Gwala RTT;  Cynthia Ntabeni has been appointed as the Convenor , Zamo Nxumalo as the Deputy Convenor, Amon Zondi as the Coordinator, Qiniso Mnguni  as the Deputy Coordinator, and Sindisiwe Majobe Msomi as the Fundraiser.

According to the Deputy Coordinator of the Regional Task Team (RTT) the Harry Gwala region has been ready for its regional conference since April. “The region’s structures have accepted the need to prepare for a conference, given that our term of office ends after three years, of which ours ended in April this year,” explained Mnguni. Continuing Mnguni claim that, an assessment has been conducted in the branches to verify the existence and operational status of structures. The deputy coordinator expressed optimism that the region will deliver a credible conference, having already completed key preparatory work. “The focus now is on finalizing preparations and ensuring all structures are ready for the conference,” he said. The deputy coordinator emphasized the importance of unity within the ANC, particularly in preparation for local government elections. While acknowledging the presence of internal factions with differing views, he expressed hope that these would dissipate once a new leadership is elected through a conference.

Furthermore Mnguni noted that once a new leadership is in place, internal factions would cease to exist, and the focus would shift to supporting the elected leadership and preparing for elections. “The RTT will work together to unite the ANC and drive the party’s agenda forward,” shared Mnguni. The Deputy Coordinator emphasized that uniting the ANC and focusing on elections would be the primary objectives. He expressed optimism that the RTT would work cohesively to achieve these goals, despite any initial differences.
