ANC Kokstad Sub Region Revives Volunteer Programme.

“We are reviving our relations with the people, and we need volunteers who can do this work well.”

The African National Congress (ANC) Kokstad Sub Region recently gathered volunteers for a programme aimed at reviving the party’s volunteer efforts in the area. The event, which took place over the weekend, brought together ANC members to discuss the importance of volunteerism in strengthening the party’s relations with the community.

According to the Harry Gwala RTT Coordinator  Amon Zondi, the programme was designed to assess the capacity of volunteers to contribute to the party’s efforts at the grassroots level.  “We are reviving our relations with the people, and we need volunteers who can do this work well,” said Zondi. The Coordinator further explained that the party is preparing its volunteers to be like soldiers going to war, emphasizing the importance of discipline, focus, and training. “When you prepare for a war, you prepare your soldiers, and your soldiers must be disciplined and focused, but above all, they must be well-trained in discipline so that you win the war. That is what we are doing. We are preparing our soldiers, our volunteers, to see issues that affect the people and the challenges that people are struggling with on a daily basis,” explained Zondi.

The next phase of the programme will focus on training volunteers on how to deal with the daily struggles of the people.                 Zondi emphasized that the party is on the back foot but believes that proper preparation will help them move forward. “Now that we know that they are there, our next focus will be how we prepare each and every individual volunteer of the ANC in the region to focus and understand the situation we are in,” said Zondi.

In response to rumours about the disbanding of sub-region structures, the RTT Coordinator confirmed that all sub-regions, including Kokstad, had their structures disbanded due to expiration. However, he emphasized that this was not a matter of disbanding but rather replacing the expired structures with new ones. “A press conference will be held soon to outline the new structures,” said the RTT Coordinator.
