“The EFF is the leader of the society we create and others follow”.
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Matatiele Sub-region has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that all learners have access to quality education. This is in line with the party’s founding manifesto, which lists “Free quality education, healthcare, houses, and sanitation” as one of its seven non-negotiable cardinal pillars.
The EFF has launched a program aimed at encouraging the system to absorb learners into schools, provide necessary tools to equip them, ensure their safety, and provide quality education that will drive the country to be competitive globally. As part of this initiative, the Secretary General will issue a letter to all structures, instructing them to adopt two schools each, assess the status of readiness, fill in reporting questionnaires, take portfolios of evidence, and submit reports.
According to the EFF Secretary Zanele Ncekana, this program will enable the EFF to identify challenges facing schools, educators, and learners, and push the government to implement solutions. The party has already visited over 8 schools and 1 TVET college in Matatiele, and has found that the Department of Education in the Eastern Cape requires serious intervention, particularly in terms of school safety. “The EFF’s commitment to quality education is evident in its swift action to address issues affecting learners. For example, the party’s Higher Education Desk leader recently intervened in a matter where students at Ingwe TVET College were not allowed to register due to outstanding fees,” explained Ncekana.
In conclusion, “the EFF is the leader of the society we create and others follow, instead of using the government to demonstrate the interest of having quality education,” said Ncekana.
