The Harry Gwala District Municipality recently inaugurated councillor Nokuthula B. Mngadi during a special sitting held at the Council Chambers in the municipality’s headquarters. Councillor Mngadi assumes office following the passing of the late Councillor S.D Bekwa, who was laid to rest on the 17th of May 2026. The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior leadership including Mayor Councillor Zamo Nxumalo. In his address, Mayor Nxumalo welcomed Councillor Mngadi to the Harry Gwala District Council and noted that although this marks her first term in the current council, she brings valuable experience having previously served within the Harry Gwala District Council structure. “We welcome Councillor Mngadi and we are confident that her experience and commitment to service will help us continue the work of delivering for our people” said Nxumalo.
According to a statement released by the HGDM communications unit, Mngadi will serve on council committees and work closely with local municipalities to advance service delivery, infrastructure development, and community programmes across the district. Her responsibilities will include representing community interests, participating in oversight, and supporting initiatives that promote social and economic development. Council leadership expressed confidence that councillor Mngadi will uphold the values of accountability, transparency, and people-centred governance as she begins her term.
