The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) in KwaZulu-Natal is gearing up for its provincial conference, scheduled to take place on Friday, the 7th, at a yet-to-be-confirmed venue.
This conference follows the 2022 gathering, which was marred by disorganization. As the province prepares for this significant event, many are eager to participate and make their voices heard. The conference will also see the election of new representatives to the provincial structure, a decision that will have far-reaching implications for the province. With delegates expected from across KwaZulu-Natal, all eyes are on the province as the conference approaches.
Speaking with ANCYL KZN spokesperson Kwanda Zungu, he stated that they are ready for the congress and have been preparing for it. Reports indicate that the 2022 conference was plagued by factional divisions, similar to those currently being reported within the ANCYL in KZN.
According to reports, the league was expected to host its congress in 2023, hoping for a successful event. Looking at the history of the ANCYL in the province, it has experienced significant turbulence. In 2022, a court challenge resulted in an interdict against the ANCYL conference.
